Feeling at Home With BoatHouse

THE HOME & GARDEN EXPO 2012: NOW OPEN!!!

BoatHouse Waterfront Hut & Rowboat

I love relaxing at home, especially on the weekends, nowhere to be…nothing to do; it’s heaven. Relaxing is even more enjoyable when I get to come home to my cozy
little “Waterfront Hut” from BoatHouse. It’s perfect for my simplistic nature and the view I have from bed is pretty amazing.

Side View of Waterfront Hut

Rocky loves laying on the “Grandmother” rug and chewing his bone while I snooze or catch on some reading & plurking. I am not one for lots of furniture, just what I
need, what some would call a “minimalist”; but I prefer to say shabby chic. Most of my home decor comes from BoatHouse by Izziebellah Hinterland, the furniture is rich in detail, low prim and super affordable.

“It’s not over tonight
Just give me one more chance to make it right
I may not make it through the night
I won’t go home without you”

“Of all the things I felt but never really shown
Perhaps the worst is that I ever let you go
I should not ever let you go, oh oh oh”

Springtime @Pemberley House

It’s been a while since I have decorated the old hearthstone, but with the arrival of spring I decided to shoo away the drab winter and welcome in the new season.

Being a minimalist I thought it would be hard to give my home that “cozy, warm & homey” feel, but was amazed with the wonderful items I picked up from my favorite stores and wonderful things I found in hunts. The first thing I did was down sized to a smaller place, the Juniper House from Kukuvaya (Egg Hunt Item @ The Nest) was the perfect choice for me. At 115 pirms the open air, loft like build was easy to decorate and I didn’t have to make any modifications. Continue reading

Holiday Decorating on a Budget 101

Holiday Steals & Deals
with Daniella Riaxik
I was challenged to find & decorate a friend’s home for the holidays while staying under 500L, initially I thought “Are you kidding me?” and laughed, but after some gentle ribbing…name calling I excepted the challenge. Smiling I calmly responded with “I got this….NOOB!” than proceeded to the Royal Magazine Hunt .
(looking back I should have wagered something because I had won before starting.)
After planning what items I would get from the hunt,  I stopped by the Black Market and picked up the cutest Lake Cabin from Pestle & Twig for 100L. Moving on with 400L left in my budget I stopped by La’Licious to look for Holiday Sofa Set in the RLM hunt. Pretty cute huh?

Next I stopped by CONSTRUCT to hunt and find the ”Winter Dream Set”, the picture from the set went over the fireplace and the chandelier I added some color making it a festive piece to go along with the “Elise’s Holiday Treat Table” from Fucifino also in the RLM Snowman hunt. It’s perfect for holiday dinners and gatherings.
The cabin was beginning to look more cozy adding this “Winter Time Set” from Dreamscapes Art Gallery was just the right touch to fill in the wall just at the front door. Perfect to hold keys, bags and all those goodies from Santa!
Wanting to add a little touch of my friends personality to the decor I knew the Vengeance ”Vintage Stereo Center” would not only be slam dunk of this challenge…..it would be an added item in my home!

Rounding out my decor with the Plush Pod ”Side Chair and Credenza Set” I was happy I had taken on and won the challenge. My total damage in the end was a whopping $415L! The Cabin is adorable and can be transformed easily from season to another with its classic, never out of style build. I added the hunt snowman on the fireplace as a little reminder that when it comes to styling incredible high quality items can be found in some hunts. With so many going on at any giving time, you never really have to break the bank to create an amazing look!

List of other decor items I used:
MudHoney Candy Cane Garland – 60L
What Next Hot Chocolate & Cookies Set – 10L
LISP – December Free Gift 2
