Barerose value

Candlelit
There are lots of really lovely houses out at the moment e.g. this one (see also here) and this one, but unfortunately I don’t have the time for major decorating at the moment. Therefore I’ll just mention a couple of home items I came across when I was clothes shopping in Barerose. This is a shop that has been around for ever, and they continue to make good stuff which is also amazing value. They mostly do clothes, but sometimes other items as well. the only disadvantage is that the shop is huge and crammed with goodies, so it is notoriously difficult to find your way round.
This dressing table is a freebie. It is actually an advert, as the photo has a link to the Barerose blog, and some of the other items have commercial links in them too. However, I think it is still a very cool item and would look good in a traditional Japanese home (like the one I show it in) or a contemporary setting with a colour scheme that was monochrome or in strong contrasting primaries. You can find it if you turn to the right when you get to the landing point, and head for a large pile of boxes against the wall, which are all freebies or dollarbies. They incude the two fans I am holding.
The candles are 40 or 50 Linden, and you get sets of resizable 12-candles and 34-candles. I’ve got the 34-candle set behind the screen. They are Mesh (you will find them with the mesh items, there is a landmark near the landing point) and low-prim. They would be ideal for weddings, romantic bathrooms or gothic mansions.
Candles, fans and dresser from Barerose; screen from Sway’s; Seat, lamp and house from Nonino.

Barnesworth Anubis at Collabor88 ~ The Paris Skybox

Paris Skybox -- Barnesworth Anubis~See hi-res enlargements of this picture on my Flickr stream~

The April round of Collabor88 is almost over… but there is still time to run over and grab up some fantastic deals. One of the steals is this lovely Paris skybox by Barnesworth Anubis. This is really a fantastic little space, with views of Paris just outside the windows, and loads of charming details inside. This is a perfect canvas for a variety of styles, and a deal not to be missed! But hurry — they’ll be changing the collection in just a couple of days!!

Showers and Flowers hunt

Herb cage from Thistle, Royal Living Hunt
Royal Living magazine is running the Showers and Flowers hunt (home and garden stuff) until May 12th. Each item in the hunt costs 45 Linden. This is the home page for the hunt which has pictures of the items, and links to the shops. The one which caught my eye is this set of table and herb cage from Thistle, with circling butterflies (they are obviously the in thing at the moment, but I do love butterflies flying around).

Mexico

Mexico a go go

This is based around the wonderful 1 Linden prize from Weekend Salvage in the Mexico a go go hunt (which runs until May 5th). The Adobe Outdoor Patio includes the corner sofa, the fountain, table and 4 patio chairs, outdoor oven, coffee table, lamps and hanging plants.
Outside, I have added some vintage bougainvilla trees from Heart all the way round , and a climbing plant from Frog’s Garden. Inside I have added a deco black straw bag and a tray with candles, both from Mudshake, the Cheery Chair in mango (with draped blanket, right of the oven) from Zinnia’s and a couple of freebies from the same shop: the Easter egg lamp on the coffee table and the (1 Linden) Zinnia’s Mexico a go go prize, which consists of the rug, the lime green kidney table next to the oven and a standard lamp next to the patio table. The lamp is stylish, and would look better in a different setting. The picture of “The Two Fridas” is by Sevenstar Amat.
The big parasol is from Palais (very nice pattern inside the parasol too) and so is the largest pot of flowers next to the fountain (Mariposa iris sunset) which cutely has butterflies constantly circling it. There’s some more butterflies flying round, by FIN. The orchids are from Ikebana (red orchid), Hanaya (birch basket of white orchids) and ex-hunt gift from Urbanized (the orchid in a vase). The asparagus fern sitting on a tile on the fountain is by Herb Abrahams, and the Caladium Green potted plant from Natas. There is a bottle of beer by Funky Junk, and beer cans from Dutchie’s; the other bottles came with the patio (as did some food and drink which isn’t shown). Over the water you can see the sea town of Cowell, opposite my land.

Bluebell time

In the garden with Stone
Outside SL it is tipping down with rain, so it was nice to able to do some gardening in the dry … and I’m really enjoying the spring plants in SL. In the first picture you can see me and my Kittycat, Stone, next to a new release from Trompe Loeil, the Golden Lion’s Head Fountain. It comes in a free-standing version as well, and I like the vintage feel to it. I’m standing behind Thaino‘s garden cart with flowers. Thaino is a new-to-me shop which I visited because of a special Tuesday deal (a nice garden shelf with plants and things, the deal is actually on til Sunday). Balanced on the fountain is a potted muscari from Frog’s Garden, and the creeping plant on the wall is also from ::FG::, the green curtain /goya and so are the bluebells. You can see the bluebells better in the second picture, below. They really do look like a real life carpet of bluebells (this is a picture of a bluebell wood in Sussex that I took last year)
Spring vista blue
In this picture, as well as the bluebells, you also get a glimpse of a new plant from Frog’s garden, Vinca major. That’s the plant with violet flowers, bottom left. Outside SL I find this plant a bit depressing, as it is popular with corporate landscapers who grub up more interesting plants (that they can’t be bothered to take care of), and put in a lot of vinca major, which is hardy and covers ground very quickly. However, here it looks pretty. There are two plants from Kiku Little’s shop, Little Garden. That’s the Bird’s-eye(Ohinunofuguri) (blue plant in the foreground) and the Narcissus’Thalia’ (Thalia is probably my favourite daffodil in RL). The trees are the Forest Floor cherries I have been featuring in several blog posts, and the bridge and stones are part of the pack.

In the loop

Trompe Loeil in springtime
Trompe Loeil has brought out Curve and Loop patio sets for this month’s Stumblebum shopping event. I was dropped the complete sets and here is a small selection under the cherry blossom trees. The lantern is also part of the set; the thermos is by LISP and the sakura parfait by Poche. There is more information about the TL stuff here: http://trompeloeilnewreleases.wordpress.com/2012/04/15/new-for-stumblebum-curve-and-loop-patio-furniture-sets/

Hanami at Sway’s

Hanami items
At the moment the Sway’s sim is a great place for cherry blossom viewing. Around the Nonino and Zacca shops there are beautiful views, with plenty of places to sit and admire the falling pink blossom. There are also some special items out for the event. I’m showing some of them in a modded version of Nonino’s summer House (at the moment I can’t fit the whole thing, so I trimmed half of it away) which I surrounded with Forest Floor cherry trees.
Sway’s has produced a beautiful “Hanami” (cherry blossom viewing) set of a chaise and screen. You can see the detail of the chaise in the picture on the left. The chaise has numerous poses, couples and single. The tall wooden side table, with a scattering of blossom by it, is a freebie from Nonino, and the Nonino Sakura lantern comes as a set of a rezzable lantern and a wearable lantern. The Nonino Hanami Tea Set consists of two cups of tea, and two sweet dishes (each with a scattering of cherry blossom leaves) to rez, plus a wearable version on a tray. The picture below shows the lantern and one of the tea cups again, plus the Nonino Zaisu (floor chair) which has one pose in the armrest and two poses in the chair. Other items on sale at the Hanami event include a large red Japanese parasol and a Hanami floor blanket with poses.
Fairy and Zaisu
Skirt – Fishy Strawberry; Blouse, shoes and wings – G.Field; Necklace – Alienbear Gupte; Hair – Fashionably Dead.

Tiny Place (2)

Relaxing in the Tiny Place
This is the other side of the interior in the Tiny Place house from L&K Prefabs (I showed the first part of the house in this post). Y’s House have a great group gift out til April 15th, which is this sofa, but in a dark denim blue colour. It has loads of poses and wicker baskets under the seat. This lime green version is half price in the Creators Pavilion sale, also until April 15th. The other items I picked up at the sale are the fluorescent tube and, as a freebie, this record shelf from Ponitee (I also bought a couple of Ponitee’s sale items).

Sofa03-Right Denim/yellowgreen: *Y’s HOUSE*

Tiny Place

The tiny house
L&K prefabs have just brought out Tiny Place house (it was 55 Linden at the weekend – in fact it was still 55 Linden when I bought it earlier today.) I’ll take a couple of posts to blog it. In the picture above you see it: the cherry trees, cherry blossom ground cover and mossy rocks are from Forest Floor (and are season change). The grassy cover and white rocks are from Heart, and the butterflies from FIN.
On the porch there is the current worn chair on sale at Atelier Kreslo, the Baignoire table by Cheeky Pea (at the current collabor8) with some candles in bottles by LISP (part of an autumn set), spring planters by What Next, and some further plants by Ibizarre on the steps.
Washing up in the tiny house
Here you see me washing up (using poses built into a wearable sponge and plate, which I got with a kitchen unit from Bitter Vanilla). There is a sale on at the Creators Pavilion until 15 April, and this sink (part of a kitchen set, 89 Linden in the sale) is from CoCo. The picture (Check Shirt) is by Lindini2 and is free in Atelier Kreslo, which is where I also bought the cup of coffee. This pictures gives you a better view of one of the What Next spring planters. The other things are: Jug of branches: La’licious; Wire basket of eggs: KOPI; Plate rack and dishes (in sink): Funky Junk (in Pasadena set); Plunger: MMG’s; Tray table: Zinnias; Expresso maker: TSG; Kitchen utensils and laundry basket: Bitter Vanilla; Morrocan lemons and bell: LISP (in Jewel set); Hodepodge carpet: LISP; Cabinet: Melino Style. I’ll blog the other side of the house soon!
