The Loft | Home On The Grid

I have skimmed through a few events, and picked up some nice things, including some freebies. This included the Kittycats at SL9B sim, the Fairy Tale event, one item from the Taste of second Life hunt and some things from what I think are two related events, the Star and the Midnight Dream Summer festivals.
I placed them all in Nordari’s store building summer 2011, which I got for 50 Linden Friday, on Friday. All I did to it was tint the floors a pale blue.
This starts with some of my favourite finds. On the right you see the free Kittycats kitty, which comes with a week’s food, but after that you have to feed it as normal, and it has a kittycat’s normal life cycle, so it will take a week to grow up. I prefer the “normal” looking kittycats, but once I took off the cat’s hat (hats on cats are just NOT RIGHT) I found her rather cute (I do like those mismatched eyes and green whiskers) so I’ve a horrible feeling I will be paying out for yet another cats-worth of food each week. The poche food is as adorable as it always is, and the stool has nice poses.

This cabinet has 8 good poses, with some props: I found it in a Harry Potter section of the shop, but I don’t think you have to put it in a wizardy setting.

I got a bit carried away by insects here: you are actually supposed to wear the big butterfly and ride it, but it isn’t that many prims and I think it works as decor too. The dragonfly decal was by kis kis (now Bastet) but I couldn’t find it in her marketplace store.

I’ve taken rather a long time to decorate and blog this, so please excuse the lingering seasonal decorations. However, this home is easing me gently out of holiday times, and into a crisper, pastel-shaded new year. One of the key starting points was obviously the house: I do like the layouts in Interior Addiction homes. They combine a feeling of space with attractively separated living areas, so you don’t feel cramped, but you also don’t feel like you are marooned in a giant waiting room.

In this case, some white open partitioning makes three areas at ground level, with one manageably-sized upper room. I ran out of prims when I came to the the little side room at the back (you can just glimpse it on the right in the picture above), and I will probably do a separate post just concentrating on that and the back porch, when I’ve freed up a few more prims

I go through the rooms in more detail below. I think the only things you can see here and not in other pictures are the sheer net curtains on a curtain rod, at the back windows (from Oyakin) and the sink unit in the side room (by aju)

I used the Heart landscaped snow globe, but added the boat arbour to give a hint of summer to come. The house is modify, so you can remove the Xmas wreath and garlands.

Another key piece for this home was the Nieve Armoire from What Next. I bought it because I liked the poses, and I wanted to use it in this fashion blog post, but when I saw the whole Nieve collection I couldn’t resist buying more of it. Also scattered round the house are items from the “By the Sea” set by Dreamscapes, and between them they decided the main colour tones for the furnishings.

I’d intended to put a dining room in this upstairs room, but then I found this bathtub in Cleo and I wanted to use it. Both this and the downstairs bird pictures from aju were specials and may not be available now, unfortunately. The tori shelf has been in a lucky board.

The sofa from The Loft is Mesh and very stylish: however with my viewer I could only get it to resolve properly when I was close up to it, unfortunately, which is why I have shot over the back of it (however, this DOES show up the wonderful cloth textures).
